Last week at Black Hat, I had the chance to reconnect with friends, peers, and partners from across the cybersecurity industry. It’s always energizing to have those face-to-face conversations. The ones where ideas flow as freely as the coffee and you’re reminded just how collaborative our community really is.

One theme dominated the show floor and the hallway chatter: AI.

Every booth. Every conversation. Every product pitch seemed to weave AI into the story. But behind the buzz, something important is happening - AI isn’t just a trend; it’s accelerating innovation in ways we haven’t seen in decades.

In many ways, the playing field has shifted. We’re already seeing this firsthand at Run Security. Just a few weeks ago, our team held an AI Bootcamp to learn best practices, experiment responsibly, and ensure we’re using AI as good stewards. In just one week, we took customer-requested features from idea to delivered—showing how, with the right process and oversight, AI can help us innovate faster than the big players without sacrificing trust or stability. And we’re not just talking about speed—our customers are already seeing the impact in better detection, greater accuracy, reduced risk, stronger collaboration, and measurable business outcomes.

Why does that matter? Because it allows us to deliver capabilities that rival or surpass those of the largest vendors—without the need for enterprises to pay a premium just for a logo. Organizations shouldn’t have to choose between strong, innovative protection and cost-effectiveness.

Bringing CADR to CNAPP: Stopping Attacks Where They Start

The CNAPP market has made great strides in securing cloud infrastructure. But there’s a blind spot—and it’s one attackers know how to exploit.

Modern attacks often start at the application layer, bypassing infrastructure defenses entirely. By the time a CNAPP sees anything, it’s too late.

That’s where our approach changes the game. Run Security combines Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) capabilities with Cloud Application Detection and Response (CADR)—a runtime defense layer purpose-built to detect and respond to sophisticated application-layer attacks before they can make it to the cloud.

This means we can:

  • Detect real threats as they happen, not days or months later.
  • Validate vulnerabilities in real time, so teams focus on what’s truly exploitable.
  • Correlate cloud and runtime activity to expose the full scope of an attack—without the noise that causes alert fatigue.

The Road Ahead

The industry is at an inflection point. With AI accelerating innovation, competition is stronger than ever—and that’s good news for security teams. The best solutions aren’t always the biggest or the loudest; they’re the ones built with focus, agility, and a commitment to solving the problems that matter most.

At Run Security, we’re in it for the innovation. We’re here to make sure every organization—regardless of size—has access to strong, trusted, and modern protection for their most critical applications.

Black Hat was a reminder that the future of security is being written right now. And with the right mix of AI, runtime visibility, and relentless focus on the application layer, that future is looking brighter.
