How We're Building AI the Right Way and Moving Faster Because of It

A few weeks ago, our engineering team took a step back from the usual sprint cycle for something different: an AI Bootcamp. While no one had to do a morning PT routine, the goal was simple: learn the best practices of AI, experiment responsibly, and ensure we’re using these powerful tools as good stewards, not just early adopters chasing a trend.

We’ve all seen what happens when AI gets used without guardrails—errors that cost teams days or weeks to fix, like the recent “Cursor deleting” ordeal that rippled through developer circles. We wanted to be sure we were doing the opposite:

  • Understanding the risks
  • Knowing the limits
  • Keeping human oversight in place at every step

The Tools We Loved — and Why

Over the course of the week, we dove deep into AI-assisted coding, and one standout was Claude Code. It impressed us not just for speed, but for clarity in suggesting fixes and explaining code in a way that accelerates understanding—not just copy-paste coding.

The takeaway? When used with the right process and oversight, AI can free up engineers to focus on the complex, creative, and high-impact parts of their work.

From Learning to Shipping

Our Bootcamp wasn’t just theoretical. We challenged ourselves to take what we learned and ship features customers had been asking for—in a single week. That meant:

  • Prioritizing features based on real customer requests
  • Using AI to accelerate the low-level tasks
  • Keeping human expertise front-and-center to ensure quality and security

By the end of the week, we had moved from “idea” to “delivered” faster than ever—and done it without sacrificing the stability and security our customers expect.

And while AI is helping us move faster, it’s not replacing what we already do best—it’s amplifying it. Our strong foundation in Runtime CNAPP and CADR means we were already delivering deep runtime visibility, real-time detection, and application-layer protection. Now, with the agility AI enables, we can pivot faster to customer needs, refine capabilities more quickly, and strengthen the protections our platform already delivers—all without adding complexity for the teams we protect.

AI as a Force Multiplier, Not a Shortcut

This is how we see AI at Run Security:

  • A force multiplier for human skill — not a replacement for it
  • A catalyst for speed — without cutting corners
  • A way to innovate faster than the big guys — without the red tape

While large vendors often struggle to move quickly, we can adopt and adapt new tools in weeks, not quarters—because we pair agility with discipline.

Gene’s recent Black Hat recap highlighted how AI is transforming the industry and giving startups like ours an edge. This Bootcamp was the how behind that statement. It’s proof that you can move fast without breaking things—if you take the time to learn, apply, and oversee AI the right way.

At Run Security, we’re not just adopting AI. We’re building with it, around it, and on top of it—responsibly. That’s how we’ll keep delivering the features, speed, and trust our customers deserve.
